I hear you about the 'quitos tho; in the summer, it would look as tough my entire skin was crying due to the raised boils that occur after a bite.

 

Strawberries are delicious with powdered sugar.

There are a lot of blueberry and blackberry bushes around here also. We also have Mayhaw trees. Have you guys ever tried Mayhaw Jelly? Our town has The National Mayhaw Festival every year in April.

 

Now's the cherries are hitting the local supermarkets, but at $7/lb.

Yeah, and blackberries are good everywhere. But you have those only have those Rabbiteye and Highbush blueberries, which are a complete fail for anything other than eating raw or tossing on your cheerios.

Real (lowbush) blueberries only grow from about West Virginia on up, and only in the mountains until you get pretty far north. They pwn.

Sounds awesome, I've never tried it though.

Used to live in a town called Oxnard California, the self proclaimed Strawberry Capitol of the World. Tens of thousands of acres of strawberries are grown there every year. They have a strawberry festival where they serve strawberries on damn near everything, even pizza! Strawberries rock!
