Traffic sucks.

 

well i am not talking about traffic.

new york city is only a few miles across. so is LA. you are confused with LA county. Los Angeles itself is not that big spatially.

 

I've no idea, the 'northern suburbs' is a big area.

I wouldn't say bad, but it's just not a part of Melbourne i enjoy visiting.

I live in South Yarra, at least until Friday, anyway.

Epping or Hurstbridge line?

 

I was hoping to avoide using my suburb name but yeah Epping, it isn't too bad. lived here all my life.

Oh and just checked out phun family photo album and yeah my pics still there

 

That's why i only asked with train line you lived on, rather than which suburb.

Don't think i've ever been to Epping.
Furthest i've gone in that direction is Preston/Reservoir way.

Hahaha, yeah it's a really old picture back before I was legal.

 

The casino here is almost like a shopping centre, with cinemas, takeaway places etc.

So for all i know he probably works at KFC.

I actually have a good friend who works the tables at the casino.

so what are all these Epping or Hurstbridge? are they towns or cities? i guess you guys call them subburbs there, but we define things differently here in the US.

small population areas called town(up to a few thousand people) city hundred thousand to million +) and a group of cities that are touching each other in an area is called a county, and a huge group of connected counties are called metropolitan area. I think when you guys say Melbourne you guys are referring to a metropolitan area. it is defined by a geographical location rather than just a huge city.

 

Permanent night shifter? Coz Chris is a fairly common name. I'm day/night rotation currenty on nights.

 

Suburbs.

 

They're suburbs of the city of Melbourne.

I mentioned them in reference to the fact they're the name of the train lines in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The term 'town' tends to be used in reference to places in the country (rural areas), whilst places in Melbourne get called suburbs.

So basically we have country towns, suburbs, the capital cities than our states (ours is Victoria, Kieks is from Western Australia).

So i live in South Yarra, Melbourne, Victoria.

 

Kieks is proof Tasmanian's can swim.

 

I think his shifts alternate, but he does a fair share of nights.

He's some sort of supervisor.
I don't want to use his full name, but he's got short brown hair, is about 35 and has two kids.

well to us a suburb is just an outlying group of houses outside of the city.
