    Varies, but in my part of Australia cold is a maximum of about 9 or 10 degrees, which happens a few times during winter.

    Average winter temperature is about 17ish (celsius), and i love it.

    Geez, that's about .5 of a degree in celsius.

    In winter our overnight temperature gets down to 2 or 3, so not far off what you're expecting tonight, but that's in the absolute middle of winter.

    Our overnight minimums are similar to what you're getting tonight, and i'm in a big city, which is warmer than less populated areas.

    Parts of my state get into the minus temperatures in winter.

    In the middle of winter we average low to mid 40'sF high and 25-30 lows with the crazy single digits thrown in from time to time as well as the upper 60's thrown in from time to time - we have crazy weather in Alabama.

    Our winter is usually -5 to 2 or something.
    And in a second Inuk will reply and say that he drinks liquid nitrogen to stay warm during winter.

    Obviously it gets colder in Europe (just as it gets hotter here, in Summer), but it's all i know.

    I never actually said it was cold, simply that's as cold as it gets in the Melbourne CBD.

    Yes, completely. The English language is ridiculous with its silent letters ("know" and "dumb"). I feel like it would be much easier to learn if we didn't focus on the orthographic spelling, rather the phonetic one.
