    Right?!? "Cancel Culture" is utter garbage. It's accountability. The right will scream "Gina is being cancelled!" with one breath then scream, "Boycott this TV show or that restaurant because they support the gays (or BLM)!" with the next. Rank hypocrisy.

    The lockdown here was nonexistent. Yeah, required to wear masks, hope y'all social distance, oh and the curfew thingy. Pretty much a joke. Last week a bar not too far from where I work opened up. Their hours are 3pm -10pm, with the required last call at 9pm. :dunno:

    The thing is, you can do that and will it prolong the whole thing? will there come a time when the herd immunity turns Covid 19 into how we approach H1N1 or do we attack it, with lockdowns and now combined with a effective Vacinne programme probably followed by a top up later in the Autumn?

    I was thinking, looking back at 20th history, we've gone back to the days before effective control of TB, Smallpox & Yellow fever, when if you wanted to travel you you needed Vaccinations that were documented in a Yellow passport that you presented with your regular passport to be able to travel, this I think went onto 1980s.

    It feels like 20 below zero fahrenheit here, expected to get down to 30 below wind chills for the next few days.... Fuck this, I'm not leaving my apartment, I am not a polar bear despite the massive amount of hair I have.

    Two reasons why this is where the problem lies, here or should I say locally to me.
    1) Way too many shortages to effectively vaccinate all of those in each stage.
    2)A large amount of individuals refusing the vaccine. I get it, it's entirely their decision as to what they put into their body.

    That's my worry too. If you have a large portion of the countrys population refusing the vaccine, then we're fucked and nothing will ever be back to normal again unless and until herd immunity. And that is a very risky strategy which basically infects everyone. Plus, the shortages and the fact that we have a lot of cases now of rich people jumping the line to get the vaccine, whether in their own states or by flying off in private jets and getting it in another state, it's all fucking infuriating and makes me want to cry at the same time:mad::(

    The COVID virus family, including the common cold, the flu variants, and now the COVID-19 variants don't appear to be susceptible to being blocked by "herd immunity". We all get the common cold from time to time, no matter how many times we've had it before, and people identified as vulnerable have to be vaccinated against the latest flu variants every year, regardless whether they've had flu before! And in spite of that, thousands still die from flu every year! So COVID-19 and it's variants will be added to the annual Autumn vaccination cocktail and we simply cross our fingers? Or does some degree of masking, social distancing, etc.. become the new normal? We will see?
    Victims of COVID-19 either kill the virus (through natural resistance, acquired "herd immunity" or vaccine-assistance) or die, each of which are unsatisfactory outcomes for the virus because it dies whichever way! But the virus succeeds and evolves - producing more variants - by moving from person to person. So the larger the unprotected population, the greater the opportunity for infections and new variants emerging, bearing in mind that some of the infected victims will be asymptomatic and unconscious carriers! A number of the unprotected will of course die, so it will therefore be a decreasing population, but they will always represent a source of new variants, wherever in the World they are!
    The new variants will remain an ongoing and ever-present threat!
