    It's never going away! It'll join the other COVID flu-type variants that return every winter, and, like all the other flu-type variants, having had it before doesn't give long term immunity.
    Hopefully it'll be added to the list of vaccine options in October/November, if we have a vaccine by that time, otherwise it starts all over again!

    Exactly the "Spanish" flu is the basis for H1N1, which is... the seasonal flu which appears....

    Then you had different strains "Hong Kong Flu" in the late 1960s, before that "Asian Flu" in the 1950s.

    We'll have to see what they have by late Fall/Autumn?

    I won't be surprised if there's Lockdown 2 before then.

    Sometimes, I wonder what the world they live in is like, because it's obviously not this one. Thinking it's not as big as media has made it out to be? Ok, I can see a place to debate that. Thinking it's all fake? Ummmm, the 100,000+ dead are fake too then? And the healthy people in their twenties needing ventilators or even lung transplants in a few extreme cases are fake too? Ugh. I get not wanting it to be real, I wish it wasn't too. But wanting and wishing something to not be true doesn't make it so.

    Morning, stunning Sunny morning and I'm in work.

    I got in before 8:30am why? You have to face masks/coverings to travel on Public transport from today, while yes everyone had one on the Underground.

    They were variations of off the nose, chin, lowered over the mouth.

    The shops reopen in England today (not Scotland or Wales) there were very long queues to get into Primark (bargain clothing store) in Oxford Street in Central London, when the doors reopened at 9am, they were scenes like the New Years day sales.

    That queue goes on for half a mile.

    They don't get it, there's NEW cases in China, the R rating is above 1 in some parts of the UK and there's a upsurge of cases in the US where they've reopened a month ago.

    I don't blame those people in that queue, the Government has taken them for fools, they've been fed the mushroom diet.

    I confess, when I'm at work I occasionally pull off my mask or pull it down. BUT, when I work there are no customers and all workers are getting their temps taken every day. And I occasionally don't wear it out on the bus for example, but only when there is no one else on the bus. In other words, I'm not going to packed pool parties or bars or churches and generally being an idiot.

    I think that in this instance "they" are predominantly the younger elements of society - almost certainly less than 40-50, say - who it appears are statistically less susceptible to the worst effects of the virus.
    So I think they "get it", but don't care because they personally don't feel so threatened. They are effectively saying - to their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc.. - for heaven's sake die and be gone, and let us get on with our lives!
    And behind closed doors the pension funds and The Treasury are agreeing with them! Old folk are just a fucking burden! This is the chance of a lifetime!!!

    The 40-60 group seems to be the absolute worst
