Waiting 30 Seconds Between Searches

"This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between searches."

I probably see get this message 10 times a day, and it drives me nuts! I can't take it anymore. I like to search for stuff. So shoot me.

Would it be possible to reduce this at all? Most of us aren't senior citizens and can move with some decent speed on The Internet. 30 second waits are like an eternity. Imagine if Google made you do that! I use our search function almost as much in a day.

I think it used be longer yes? but yeah it is anoying lol, why do we have to wait?

you very well could be right. if that's the case, then my brain has deleted it from memory (probably self-defense mechanism).
i personally think 0-10 seconds would be great if i may say so. you're welcome

Not sure if it can be amended, if cayne doesn't post in here in a day or so I'll ask him and see what he comes up with.

 

it can be changed. from zero to... whatever.
basically (assuming that everyone is busy with searching...) it´s a matter of server-load.
zero would def. outperform PHUN´s servers - and having in mind that a few days ago the min.-limit of letters a word needs to have to be included in the search has been lowered to 3 (Iga! ) Cayne might want to get some reliable datas about the affect this change had on the serverload before further steps are being considered.

as for now google has a few servers more than PHUN, micht change some day

i totally understand. i'm willing to pitch in $1 towards more servers. haha. well, figured it couldn't hurt to ask. will be curious to see if anything can be changed without harming things. thanks!

i should explain: i'm often not looking for different stuff. it is frustrating when looking for 1 particular thing and it takes a few tries to get it. for example i know brcook posted a Zoe inthecrack set and i wanted to find it today... so i put "inthecrack"... nothing, wait 30 seconds. "in the crack"... nothing, wait 30 seconds. finally i tried "inthecrack.com" and that yielded the result i wanted. it's those cases that are annoying, where it takes 1-2 minutes to find something very simple. i do of course understand the idea behind server load and potential issues with reducing the time.

It drives me nuts aswell. I agree with having to wait between posts to avoid spammers and trolls but the search function is mainly used by the more dedicated contributors and it'd be nice to be able to search freely.

 

If it could be reduced to like 10 secs or something i'd be very happy, please talk to cayne and see if he could help us mortals

this came up a while ago, when the wait period was 60 seconds, and in that instance, the mods/admins were kind enough to lower it to 30 sec. I'd hate them to think "we've given them a cookie, now thay want the whole jar." I'm not trying to kiss the admins ass or anything, I'm just saying 30 seconds is about as good as it's going to get because this is such a busy forum (but if said admins can prove me wrong, I won't be too disapointed )

 

Use your third hand instead of whatever.. for 30seconds.. (a new search will give you + 30sec..)..
