I've actually been interested in visiting Brazil for a while, and I read that you said you want to go back(yeah I've been looking through the backpages of this thread, lol ). First of all, thanks the good words and for sharing your first post with us. Secondly, I can honestly say that I think you'll find them generally more aggressive and direct (if you speak Portuguese). If you don't speak the language, your hunt could be a challenge.

Awesome! Yeah man, I've actually got a Portuguese self-learn book but haven't really done much yet, although that's about to change with new motivation .
But I know basic phrases like "oi tudo bem" and "obrigado" and such. Besides all that I'd just love to live in another country for a while and I've heard a lot of good things about Brazil(and some bad). But you only live once. Feel free to pm me with any more info. Thanks again man.

 

I've been living in Rio de Janeiro for more than two years, and it is fucking fabulous! You will, without a doubt, have a ball.

As theslayer writes, the girls ARE generally more aggressive and direct. Portuguese is generally a requirement, but there are lots of ways to have fun here, even without the language. I show guys around all the time...

Well, a woman looking for men is likely going to find Brazilian men to be quite aggressive, making out with her almost instantly, regardless of the language she speaks. A woman looking for women should check out the club Le Girl, and would likely not find hooking up to be very difficult. I know a lot of women who like women and are pretty...liberal. The less you look like a typical Brazilian, the more popular you'll be. I don't think language would be a problem for a woman looking for fun. It's generally women who like to feel the connection/comfort thing with a guy before hooking up.

It's a real playground down here, and you can always find a great time as long as you know where to look...

Incidentally, the Pimsleur's Brazilian Portuguese CDs are a great way to start picking up the language.

And as a woman who is bisexual, it's one thing to wrap it up with a guy, but when you're two girls together... protection becomes different. Thanks for the offer on the PM, I'll take you up on it. I seriously want to make a trip there. I've always felt like with a country like Brazil, who celebrates expressive sensuality, I'd feel right at home! Plus I LOVE the ocean...
