DEBATE Why Do We Hate The Kardashians?

Yeah, I think it's resentment, jealousy and a bit of self-righteousness thrown in.

 

There are plenty of bad role models who are just as famous without getting as much hate as the Kardashians

 

I guess it's just because I can't keep up with them.

 

My daughters "hate them" because of what they represent: a bunch of trashy bitches making money off of being trashy, thereby causing young/impressionable girls to want to emulate them in order to become "successful." As it is explained to me- "it's a vicious cycle that perpetuates pettiness, dishonesty and greed."

I personally find them to be relatively unattractive, particularly the two that have tried to surgically create bodies that look like cartoon characters... but I don't "hate" any of them.

There were panderers to the superficial long before the Kardashian clan came along. In this case Chris Kardashian seized upon a rare opportunity that the media had pretty much gift wrapped and handed to her for free, given their interest in her daughters during the OJ Simpson trial. You couldn't buy publicity like that. And they're from L.A., where this kind of fantasy nonsense is born and given wings. It was like the perfect storm of exploitive entertainment had descended upon them. If you're a Beverly Hills socialite, why wouldn't you take advantage of it? If their show had premiered on the Disney Channel people might be singing a different tune. Although, with Disney, the family's trajectory would likely have been quite a bit different. Or so I assume.

 

Yeah, Katie's just a mess. Didn't she have some faux-outrage when a video of her having sex with a long-irrelevant pop star (Dane Bowers, I think) "leaked", then used it to get herself on reality TV? Then, she hitched her wagon to Peter Andre and milked reality shows about their relationship and then their family when they had kids together. Then she continued ater they split up.

Just a horrible woman.

As for Kendall Jenner, the only opinion I have about her is that she's attractive and needs to come out of the closet already.

 

Honestly, it doesn't matter which channel they'd have been on, I'm just not a fan of reality shows based around people who are famous for being famous. It's cool that could capitalise on that but it's not something I personally go out of my way to see. It's like with Donald Trump, I genuinely never gave a shit about him because he was just a businessman with a reality show, and we have those in the UK (Lord Sugar with The Apprentice, plus Dragon's Den - our version of your Shark Tank show), neither of which I care about, either.

I suppose it's kind of like Lady Gaga with me, Didn't care about her for ages because it's not my style of music but then she played some shows where she got to really show off her vocal talents and I liked her for the first time. I generally stick with what I enjoy, though, so realise it's not an opinion shared by many.

 

I've never seen more than a few snippets of their TV show, usually in the form of a gif made by spider. Like you, I'm not into reality TV. I've watched a few seasons of Survivor and Big Brother, but ultimately reality shows with a monetary prize are about regular people acting poorly to win money. Not my cup of tea.

I really only asked the question because of the amount of shade thrown on these women amuses me sometimes, and perplexes me at others. Someone earlier in the thread said they hate them because they are constantly being pushed in our faces 24/7. Really? I don't know what TV channels he watches, but I can't recall the last time I saw an ad for their show, or anything else they're into.

 

I don't have any strong feelings about the Kardashians, but i AM kind of impressed at their promotion talent.

I've never watched an episode of the show nor do i have any intention of doing so, i don't read stories about them and i don't click links with their names on them (except for sometimes Kendall...) and yet, i somehow know the name of all of them....i can't even figure out how that happened, i thought i had zero interest in them, but i DO recognize them all.

I find that amazing, they should teach the Kardashian promotion-style at college.

 

Their promotion style is the simplest one of all to learn .... Just relentlessly push yourself into everyone's faces until they can't help but know who you are because your faces and names are absolutely every fecking where! That's how I also know of them all by name and reputation, despite also never having watched a minute of their shows.....

 

Ah, but there are thousands of people trying that every day, with limited or no success.

Why are they getting in our face so much more than anyone else?

I don't enjoy fapping to most of the Kardashian Jenners. They just don't look good to me. It's the lip fillers, plastic surgery, and implants. I don't enjoy it in my porn, I don't enjoy it in my celeb faps. The one Kardashian/Jenner who avoids most (all?) of that is Kendall and I enjoy her. That's it. The rest, I just ignore, they do nothing for me.
