The Astrophysicist, Fred Hoyle, called the expanding Universe theory, ‘The Big Bang’. He meant it as a term of derision. He believed, till his death, in the steady-state Universe. Today no one says Big Bang mockingly. It’s established physics.

I hear - and confess I don’t understand it - but I hear people practically spit the words ‘Social Justice Warrior’, with the same sort of contempt as Dr. Hoyle had for the expanding universe. But, when I think of a ‘social justice warrior’, people like, King, Malcolm, Chavez et al come to mind.
Those are the famous names. I also try the imagine the countless ‘no names’ who struggled and in too many cases gave, Lincolns, ‘last full measure’, for the causes of justice (Goodman, Chaney and Schwerner). These are the kinds of people that I think of when I hear the moniker, ‘SJW’. So, I’m bewildered that it should be synonymous with fool, overly sensitive, or even fake.

To me, a ‘snowflake’ is a snowflake, and a SJW is a SJW. Two very different things. And, I can’t bring myself to confuse the two in my mind. No matter how hard snowflakes on the ‘Right’, try to force the conflation.

‘I'd like somebody to mention that day that Martin Luther King, Jr., tried to give his life serving others.

I'd like for somebody to say that day that Martin Luther King, Jr., tried to love somebody.

Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness.’ - Martin Luther King, Jr., “The Drum Major Instinct”, 1968

Best example I can find: " An activist tries to get a ramp added to a building for easier wheelchair access. The SJW tries to get the stairs removed because they might offend people who can't use them."

You call them SJW's. I'd call them misguided snowflakes. The SJW was the one who probably had to fight for the ramp in the first place. I understand that the distinction is my own. But, I do make the distinction. People (grown ups) who genuinely fight for real social justice, in my humble opinion, fit the descriptive, Social Justice Warrior.
    My choice.
    Do what you will.

Let's be real. They use these terms because of an insecurity towards pl who call out their priviledge. These terms are only used for ppl fighting racial discrimination and for equal rights.

No one's offended by stairs. Some people are offended by things like stereotypes and cultural appropriation. When your argument is based on ridiculous made-up examples not based in reality, that should be a hint that something is off.

Justice is a complicated process that shouldn't be determined by public opinion, mostly because the general public is fucking stupid. Individuals are intelligent, 'the masses" are not. The intelligent people who established the justice system in the USA (including older systems which influenced it) were well aware of the fact the that popular opinion is not always correct, it's just popular. The system isn't perfect due to too many external influences, but the process of voir dire at least allows for rooting out as much bias and ignorance as possible so an acceptable truth can be achieved in the pursuit of justice. Or that's how it's supposed to work, anyway. Before the internet, information was disseminated gradually, usually over a long enough period of time that people could examine it and decide whether or not it had merit. Today, so much information is available so readily that folks don't take time to question it's validity. The masses just parrot what they think is the truth without taking any time to determine whether or not what they, and everyone else, espouse has any validity. You see it everywhere every day on social media, this flood of utter bullshit, often insignificant, but just as often not, gets passed on like the largest game of telephone ever played.

And the number of participants just keeps growing. And so does the ignorance. It astonishes me how many people who earn less than 30 thousand dollars a year think it's a good idea to give massive tax breaks to people who make 30 million dollars a month. These are usually the same people who think standing up for liberty and equality are liberal mandates designed to ruin the American Way, qualities which also just happen to be two of the cornerstones of American independence. How is it possible that so many people on such a grand scale can be sold such a bill of goods? Where did we go so wrong? When did the media suddenly become "liberal," and why is that a bad thing when the term liberal means "open minded?" If you consider yourself intelligent then open minded should be something you aspire too. Not fear and bias. When you stop trying to make life better for everyone instead of just those people you see eye to eye with, then you've lost your humanity. When you create and employ derogatory terms for people who are at least trying to make a positive difference in this world--a world more full of hate and animosity then I've ever seen over the past 50+ years of my life--then you're just part of the fucking problem.

There's only one way humanity is going to survive itself intact, and that's by everyone embracing liberty and equality for all, which will allow for actual justice, fair and honest. Otherwise we're fucking doomed.
